The laser beam emits light at a high (infrared) intensity that is absorbed by the melanin (dark pigment) in the hair and is converted to heat. This disrupts the growth of cells in their follicle and so, the hair is lost and regrowth is significantly reduced. Multiple treatments are required to achieve permanent hair reduction. This is due to the increased effect of the laser on hair in the ‘anagen’ or growing stage of the cycle. Not all hairs are growing at any one time; you will need to complete several treatments to ensure all have been captured in their growing cycle for the best results. This may vary between individuals, but usually a minimum of 6 treatments will be needed.

This short video presents the Lumenis laser hair removal system which we use at our clinic.

The Lightsheer laser system uses a state-of-the-art 805nm diode laser, to maximise safety for all skin types. The treatment can be customised for your skin and hair type by utilising two different handpieces and technologies.

ChillTip technology

The ChillTip technology uses a proprietary cooling system to momentarily numb the skin to minimise discomfort, whilst compressing the handpiece to the skin to rotate the follicle and enhance results. The skin is cooled before and during treatment.

HIT Technology

Lumenis Desire Laser Hair Removal System

The High-Speed Integrated Technology (HIT) uses gentle suction to lift and stretch the skin enabling the laser to achieve maximum absorption into the hair follicles and fast coverage of large areas, whilst minimising the sensation of heat. This innovation has made laser hair removal bearable for even the most sensitive of clients. Lightsheer is more than 75% faster than the average hair reduction session. With its unparalleled treatment speed, comfort and efficacy.

Although laser hair removal removes hair in every cycle, it’s most effective when hairs are “growing” – when the hair is present all the way down the follicle and attached to the root.
